Each of us has created a playlist that reflects the characters we play. Morgan’s comments and song explanations are below and next to the playlist.
Lyonette is our noble Champion Fighter of the Kingsguard. Lyonette’s playlist was originally created in a loose chronological order, with certain songs depicting events in her life. The moods in here vary between sorrow, anger, and calm. So I can channel those parts of Lyonette that I want to feel before game time. – Morgan
Warrior Daughter – Wildwood Kin
A mother tells her daughter she will keep her safe and make her strong. She will be a warrior. Lyonette could be either the mother or the daughter depending where she is in her story.
Noble Maiden Fair – Emma Thompson, Peigi Barker
When I heard this song, I imagined it as a snapshot of a special moment in Lyonette’s life. And the title “Noble Maiden Fair” could also be applied to Lyonette herself. Her and her family are nobility.
Zombie – The Cranberries
An anti war song. “A mother’s breaking heart is taking over”: she is full of grief and anger about what happened to her family. This never should have happened. Condolences from those in power aren’t enough. Their families are safe. They don’t understand.
Lionhearted – Billie Marten
She withdraws within herself. She is overcome with grief. She wishes for the courage she had when she was a soldier. She wants to bury this feeling of weakness, but she can’t. She decides to leave Kingswatch and cut ties. She wants to heal on her own.
Carry Me – Eurielle
She can’t forget about him. If she dies, then they will be together again.
Third Eye – Florence + The Machine
This song is about Lyonette. I envisioned it as a dream she has. Her husband the one speaking to her, his touch magnifies the hole in her heart. She replies to his words with, “I’m the same. I’m trying to change.” She has been hiding behind a wall of grief and anger, and not letting herself heal. She was not trying to change.
Ipswitch – Georgi Kay
Unknown attackers tried to kill her. She seeks revenge. Also has this message of refusing to back down.
To be Human – Sia, Labyrinth
Acceptance. The last stage of mourning. She lost everything, but she will not give up on living. She will get through this.
Warrior – Stitched-Up Heart
Hype song for a kick ass lady going to kick ass. Also….. warriors.
Wonder Woman’s Wrath – Rupert Gregson-Williams
Fight hype. Lyonette was loosely inspired by Antiope from Wonder Woman. The movie soundtrack gives me some good Lyonette vibes.
Heart of Thorns Theme – Maclaine Diemer
More fight hype. I’m a Guild Wars 2 player and I have loved this song since it was released. Overall good battle music.
